A lot of us feel stress every day.
Normally we experience what’s called Acute Stress which is short term and goes quickly away. Acute stress is usually caused by stress factors called “Stressors” such as when you have a sudden scare like when a bee flies in your face or a spider is next to you. Stressors trigger your fight or flight response.
Chronic stress, however, is one of the most dangerous states for us to be in. Chronic stress can cause serious health problems including hidden problems like:
- Heart Disease
- High blood pressure
- Autoimmune Disease
But stress can also present itself as physical symptoms such as:
- Weight gain or loss
- Diarrhea or constipation
- Frequent aches and pains
- Sexual problems
- Menstrual problems
- Trouble sleeping
- Depression or anxiety
Someone under chronic stress could experience:
- Angry outbursts
- Feelings of being overwhelmed
- Irritability or anger
- Sadness or depression
- Social withdrawal
- Changes in sex drive
- Chest pain
- Lack of motivation and focus
Chronic stress can be brought on by stressors such as those relating to money problems, difficulties with school or work, and unhappy relationships. It brings on feelings of frustration, anger, nervousness, or hopelessness.
Amazingly, we don’t consider chronic stress as a factor when we experience the above symptoms. Most of the time we blame an illness such as colds, flu, even allergies as the cause.
More and more studies are finding that daily meditation practice is important for lowering stress and anxiety, decreasing blood pressure, improving sleep, and your overall health. Binaural beats are a great tool to use while meditating to help you achieve a more relaxed state.
Binaural beats are a form of brain entrainment and can bring your mind down to a slower state similar to those which you experience while watching your favorite tv show when you are in that twilight between awake and sleep, and even a deep sleep state.
